Mission statement regarding the Master of Arts program in Applied Linguistics, Cultural Studies, Translation and Interpreting

The aim of the Master of Arts program in Applied Linguistics, Cultural Studies, Translation and Interpreting is to provide students with a first-class professional qualification in the field of translation, particularly in specialized communication, as well as in the areas of language and culture. Special emphasis is placed on foreign languages and cultures in respect of the source language and culture. Additionally, the program is characterized by a high degree of methodological reflection and theoretical orientation in the areas of linguistics, cultural studies and translatology and their important respective sub-areas. This forms the basis for further doctoral studies with a view to pursuing a career in research and/or teaching in the field of translation studies.
